Streak Of Consistency
Green Brothers Racing continued a recent run of consistent performances during major events with another solid effort at Kalgoorlie International Speedway on Wednesday night.
Taking to the track as the World Series Sprintcar trail launched into the closing WA legs, Trevor Green and the Natrad #4S Maxim completed the A-main in seventh spot after starting from position 11 on the grid.
The result added to Green’s noteworthy achievements amid a recent flurry of Australian sprintcar competition, having finished 10th in the Classic at Warrnambool before a ninth place amid a stellar field in the 50th anniversary national title event at Speedway City in SA.
On Wednesday night, Green endured a late time trial run on a fading Kalgoorlie track, ultimately clocking 16th fastest from a field of 28 cars.
He redeemed himself in his two heat races by placing third and second to qualify for the A-main from the sixth row of the grid, and was able to marginally move forward to complete the journey in seventh place, which leaves the team sitting in ninth spot on the overall 2011-12 WSS points standing.
Green and the 'Blue Streak’Maxim will now head to Albany where Attwell Park will host its first ever round of WSS competition this Saturday night.

Top 10 For Green
A Top 10 placing capped a consistent campaign for Green Brothers Racing at the 2012 Grand Annual Classic held at Warrnambool over last weekend.
Amid a Sunday night race of tire attrition and a couple of racing accidents, SA’s Trevor Green turned in a steady effort to bring the Natrad #4S Maxim home in 10th spot after yet another enthralling battle over 40 laps.
Winner of the Classic in 1997, Green rebounded after engine gremlins prevented him from competing in Friday night’s King Challenge at Mt Gambier by registering the fastest time in Saturday night’s second group of time trials, registering a time of 12.035 on a slick track.
During his heats, Green grabbed an opening round win before a mid field finish in his second event, which qualified him for Saturday’s 25-lap Australia/American Challenge preliminary A-main in which he finish 11th.
Sitting in 10th place on qualifying points following Saturday’s program, Green further enhanced his bid for a berth in the prestigious Classic final by taking a heat win in his first heat on Sunday night, and cemented his spot with a fifth place in his fourth heat, qualifying him to start from eighth place on the Classic grid.
Managing to avoid some early incidents, Green drove steadily to claim his best result in several seasons at Australia’s world renowned sprintcar event, which drew a healthy American representation.
Green was satisfied with his effort, having qualified for the historic 40th Classic race ahead of a number of highly rated rivals who missed the cut.
“I guess the team can be satisfied with what was a consistent run for us over both nights,” said Green.
“I’ve had a couple of lean years, so it is just a case of keep working away at it and continuing to learn to improving the game.
“The track certainly provided a bit of a tough test on the tires, but a good time trial effort certainly helped us out.
“I have had some great support from a number of people who have stuck with me, so it’s a reasonable result for them too.
“I love this sport and love the fans, and hopefully can come back to do the Classic for a few more years yet.”
While Green turned in a noteworthy performance, close friend Danny Smith endured a disappointing campaign at an event he was won six times.
After finishing seventh in the Kings Challenge, the Indiana racing legend and the LPS team were plagued with involvement in a racing incident and motor problems, with a third placing in his final heat the best result he was able to achieve during the Classic weekend.
Smith will make the final appearance of his short Australian tour when he competes in Wednesday night’s meeting at Speedway City, while Green will use the event as preparation for the 50th anniversary Australian championship which will be held at the Virginia venue over this coming Friday and Saturday evening.

'maxim Attack' Looms
Trevor Green made a successful return to racing with a determined eighth placing in Round 10 of World Series Sprintcars held at Adelaide’s Speedway City venue on Saturday night.
It was Green’s first outing since being forced out of action with a back injury sustained while competing at Warrnambool on New Year’s Day which resulted in him missing Round 9 in Brisbane.
However, Green quickly showed he was back on the pace by pushing the Natrad #4S Maxim to third quickest in the time trials to virtually ensure a berth in the leading contenders for a spot in the 30 lap A-main.
Following mixed results in the heats, Green then started from position eight in the feature event and raced consistently throughout to finish eighth amid a quality field which included six American drivers, and move back into the top 10 on the WSS overall points tally.
“I was pretty happy with the way things went, the back is still a little bit stiff but thankfully no major issue ... it was just good to be able to get back out on the track after a brief absence,” reflected Green post-race.
The meeting also marked the first appearance in Australia for two seasons of Indiana racing legend Danny Smith, who displayed plenty of class in bringing home the LPS #4USA Maxim in sixth place in the feature.
“Basically with generous support from many of my sponsors, and particularly Logical Property Services, we have been able to put together a good package for Danny to come here and run six meetings,” remarked Green.
“I have had such a great relationship with Danny for as long as I can remember and it is great to be able to run with him again down under once again.
“He is such a great bloke and a fantastic racer and I am sure many his fans will be pleased to see him back in Australia, considering that similar to myself, he had his career threatened a couple of years ago by a serious back injury sustained in a frightening accident at Attica.”
Green and Smith have busy schedule racing together over the coming week, teaming up for a ‘Maxim #4 attack’ on the President’s Cup at Avalon and the Kings Challenge in Mt Gambier, before both attempt to add to past wins in the Grand Annual Classic at Warrnambool over January 21-22.
Smith will then make the final appearance of his brief tour during the Wednesday night meeting at Speedway City on January 25 which will be a prelude to the Australian sprintcar championship on January 27-28.

Back On Deck!
SA driver Trevor Green has thankfully escaped major injury following his spectacular accident during the January 1 round of World Series Sprintcars at Warrnambool’s Sungold Stadium.
Green has been hospitalised in Warrnambool since flipping his #4S Natrad Maxim after being caught up in a racing collision in the first corner of the night's third heat.
Having posted seventh fastest during time trials, Green suffered a severe jolt to his back, prompting concern that he had aggravated a spinal vertebrae injury sustained two years ago at Toowoomba.
Rushed to hospital, initial x-rays detected fractures in his spine, however, as of the afternoon of Tuesday, January 3, further scans have revealed no new fractures, with the damage luckily confined to severe bruising of tissue surrounding the previous fractures.
“While it appeared bad initially, further tests have indicated it was just the past mended fractures which showed up in x-rays on Sunday night,” said a relieved Green from his hospital bed in Warrnambool.
“What they thought were possible fractures are just some swollen tissue area around the displacement area from the previous injury.
“While the back is a bit stiff and bruised, there is no major damage so I am looking forward to being discharged on Wednesday and then making my way back to Adelaide.
“I will obviously miss the World Series round in Brisbane, but with physio work, there is no reason I won’t be able to get back on deck for the round in Adelaide on January 14.
“Danny Smith will also be on board, so I guess missing the trip up north will at least give me extra time to prepare for his campaign, while also giving the back the best time to recover to complete the series.
“It may have appeared a bit grim on Sunday night at one stage, but it will take something a bit stronger to keep me down, and I am looking forward to getting back in the seat,” quipped an upbeat Green.
Green Brothers Racing would like to express their sincere thanks to the members of the speedway community who have extended their thoughts and wishes since the accident.

Tough Time At Timmis
Last Saturday night provided anything back a pleasant welcome back to Trevor Green as he travelled to Mildura for Round 3 of the 2011-12 World Series Sprintcar trail.
Making his first appearance at the Timmis Speedway since driving speedcars at the venue during the 1990s, the round threw up plenty of ‘curved balls’ for the SA competitor.
After sensing that the Natrad S#4 Maxim was a little loose in hot laps, Green opted to tighten the car up for the time trials ... perhaps a little too much, registering the 12th fastest time amid the 28 nominations.
A quick preparation of the track provided further problems for Green as the ‘blue streak’ became very tight on a changed surface, and after starting from position five, Green had to virtually wrestle the car home for a seventh placing in his opening heat.
After virtually changing the entire set up for his second heat, Green ran a much improved third, but the early setbacks proved costly, missing the shoot out for the first time this season and forced to qualify through the B-main.
Starting from outside the first row, Green quickly assumed the lead, but endured some savage vibrations in the car as he took victory to earn a start from position 15 in the 20-car A-main.
A dose of the Sunraysia blues continued for Green as he was involved in a chain reaction incident on just the second lap and suffered front end damage, including losing the front wing which left the car handling badly for the remainder of the race.
However, displaying his renowned grit, Green managed to work his way up into the top 10 before suffering a flat rear right tire with a lap remaining, and ultimately limped across the line for 15th place.
“It was just a night to forget for the team on many fronts,” Green disappointedly assessed post-race.
“We were just plagued with things all night ... the car was loose, then too tight, then once we lost the front wing, it handled like a worn out shopping trolley ... and all along it was certainly not a case of good vibrations!
“Unfortunately it may well prove costly down the track, but positively we are still sitting in fourth spot on the overall points and now prepare for what looms as a fantastic Speedweek segment which kicks off at Speedway City on December 26.”
Green Brothers Racing would like to wish all sponsors, supporters and fans a happy and safe Xmas and New Year period and hope to see your trackside.
